Rimeblood

Rimeblood is a boss monster found in Dragon Quest Treasures. It is the strongest of the three ancient ones, found in the fourth floor of the Snarl where it guards the final dragonstone.

CharacteristicsEdit

Rimeblood is a peculiar monster whose body is feline in shape, but whose head is that of a chameleon mixed with a frilled lizard. Befitting it's name, it is covered in snow white scales and ice crystal osteoderms. A teal jewel is fixed in the frill lining it's jaw, and this is the beast's most vulnerable part.

The dragon is the most powerful of Draconia's guardian beasts and fights in an arena that is without obstructions unlike the other two. Instead, Rimeblood will change its colour like a chameleon and become all but invisible to the player. It cannot be damaged in this state until it's jewel flashes red: shooting it with the catapult during this time will stun it for several seconds.

Treasure No. 721 is a statue of Rimeblood, which is classified as a Draconian memento and has a base value of 1,500,000. Once the player has reached the post-game after the battle on La Isla Dorada, a masked version of the wall-eyed ice dragon will randomly appear in any of the treasure portals found on the Draconia islands.

EtymologyEdit

  • Rime is a term for the frost that forms on objects during a harsh freeze
