The Bone Baron is an intermediate monster vocation in Dragon Quest VII.

Description[edit]

The Bone baron is an undead jouster on horseback with a knowledge of both ice and death magic. This vocation offers slight boosts in magic categories and moderate drops in others.

Characters who master the vocation will gain an immunity to instant death, Snooze, Dazzle, and a strong resistance to Fuddle, Fizzle, poison, paralysis, Crack, and ice breath. Mastering the vocation is necessary to becoming a Black bishop.

Requirements[edit]

To become a Baron, a character must first master the Walking corpse, Healslime, and Goodybag vocations. Bone barons have a small chance to drop their hearts and can be faced in the Vogograd region after the Demon King's resurrection or the Ventus Tower. In the Nintendo 3DS version, it is also possible to acquire a Bone baron heart by creating a custom Traveller's Tablet with a Bone baron as the boss.

Trivia[edit]

  • The PSX accolades for the fourth through seventh ranks, Famine, Plague, War, and Conquest, are the names of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
  • The accolade names in the 3DS version are all different titles that wield authority.
  • The only way to learn Crack in any version of Dragon Quest VII is by becoming a Bone Baron.
