A Troubadour from Dragon Quest VIII.
A multi-talented musician whose massive repertoire has a range of uses. --Description in Dragon Quest VII.

The Troubadour (吟遊詩人, Gin'yūshijin) is a vocation featured in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart. It is also a class of NPC in several games, who usually relay information to the player in rhyme or song.

Description[edit]

The troubadour is a helpful vocation that makes use of support skills in battle. Outside of battle, they learn the Holy Protection spell that is able to keep weaker monsters at bay. After mastering this class, the troubadour can become a Luminary provided they have also mastered the Dancer and Jester vocations.

Usefulness[edit]

The troubadour is quite frail and should be put in fourth position from the left. Its only use is to make the Luminary and then a Druid. It takes some time to become a Druid and so has to be started as soon the player clears Alltrades Abbey. However, the rewards are great. In the Nintendo 3DS Version, troubadours are able to learn Soothing Song naturally, which is a decent way to restore HP for free in battle.

The hybrid skills aren't particularly worth getting as there are similar skills that do the same thing.
