Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
In the Lower World, both Queen Apnea and her husband King Somnus have been trapped in an endless slumber, while in the Upper World, Somnia is ruled by a young, dashing King with no Queen. However, not all is as it seems: in truth, the young "King" in the Upper World is Apnea's dream counterpart, while the true King Somnus has instead become the dream world's version of the Dread Fiend Murdaw.
When the mock Murdaw is defeated and his true form is revealed by Ra's Mirror, Apnea and Somnus are restored to their true forms, to the party's confusion. They disappear from the Upper World, but their true forms in the Lower World are able to finally emerge from their long slumber.
Etymology[edit]
- Sleep apnea is a disorder that causes breathing disruptions during sleep.
