The Hero's Shield is an artifact from the ancient past of Alefgard, having protected generations of heroes. during the events of Dragon Quest III, the shield would be claimed as Erdrick's Shield and bear his name forevermore as it was passed down along his lineage.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation[edit]

The Hero's Shield is one of the three sacred treasures of Tantegel, but was stolen by the Dread Fiend Zoma. The shield is located in the very bottom of the Talontear Tunnel due northwest of Tantegel castle. When equipped, it will boost the Hero's Defence by +65, and reduce magic/breath damage by 33%. When both the shield and armour are equipped, the shield's reduction properties will take effect after the armour's during damage calculations.

Dragon Quest Builders[edit]

The Hero's shield can be forged in chapter five of the game, and takes two chunks of zenithium, a gold ingot, one ruby, two steel ingots, and two blocks of wood to assemble. It increases the Builder's defence by +16 and has no special effects.

Dragon Quest Builders 2[edit]

The Hero's shield raises the Builder's Defence by +32, and requires two bits of zenithium, one ruby, one gold ingot, and two steel ingots to forge.

Trivia[edit]

  • Though the hero's shield's design is very close to Erdrick's, but it lacks the rune inscription that spells "Roto", Erdrick's Japanese name, and the emblem does not resemble Ramia.
