"You are more of a wimp than I would have imagined…
You may not think so, but I see all things…
You are afraid to act decisively…
You are too cautious… You will only ever take a risk if you know there is a safety net in place…
However, this is not necessarily a bad thing…
Indeed, it is preferable to taking a risk and failing with irreversible consequences…
You may live an unremarkable life, but it is sure to be one of safety and relative contentment…
Provided, that is, you are mindful of your tendency to trust in others too readily… Beware liars and tricksters…
Fail to do so, and all your caution may be for naught… You may find yourself dressed in the emperor's new clothes…
And your nearest and dearest may not wish to see you walking naked down the street…
So please, be wary of charlatans… And if you wish to impress your friends…consider a less shocking means…"

In the Dragon Quest III remakes, wimp is a personality that improves wisdom and luck growth, but reduces strength, agility, and resilience growth.
At the start of the game, the hero becomes a wimp by receiving the final test of character in the well. The hero must leave the test after breathing fire on three to six NPCs, including the mother, the nun, or both, but must not breathe fire on the child. Alternatively, the hero can breathe fire on any seven to nine NPCs, but must not breathe fire on the child. All NPCs, including the required one at the well and the dog, count toward this total.
Other party members have a chance to be a wimp when talent scouted at Patty's Party Planning Place as a warrior, martial artist, mage, or priest, depending on their stat bonuses.
An existing character becomes a wimp temporarily while wearing the cursed cower ring accessory.
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake[edit]
The wimp personality reduces strength by 10%, reduces resilience by 20%, reduces agility by 30%, reduces stamina by 10%, increases wisdom by 20%, and increases luck by 20%. Any character can change their personality to that of a wimp by equipping the cower ring accessory.
