The Shimmering Shield is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest V. It is a highly protective shield that helps protect the wielder from both fire and ice damage.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]

The Shimmering shield has a Defence bonus of +65, reduces damage from all fire and ice attacks (both spells and breath attacks) by 20 points, and can only be equipped by the Hero. It can only be found in a single chest in the postgame dungeon Estark's Labyrinth. It can only be equipped by Hero. It cannot be purchased or sold anywhere.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (3DS)[edit]

The Shimmering shield has a Defence bonus of +65, a Style bonus of +15, and reduces fire and ice breath damage by 20. It can be equipped by all characters as long as they are level 35. The shield is received as a first-time reward for completing the Here Be Dragons DLC Tablet. It is the second-most protective shield in the game right behind the Metal king shield.
