The abiding blazer is a piece of clothing introduced in the Nintendo 3DS version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King. It is a surprisingly protective garment designed for female scholars.

The abiding blazer has a defence bonus of +102 and reduces the effectiveness of poison, paralysis, sleep, confusion, blinding, and instant death attacks on the wearer by half. Only Jessica can equip it and it changes her appearance if worn with the scholar's specs. The abiding blazer is acquired from Dodgy Dave in Pickham after turning in a princess's robe.
