The princess's robe is a recurring garment in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in Dragon Quest V. This regal gown for women was designed to protect against breath damage in its debut, but has since shifted focus to magical resistance. In later games, the robe also gave a boost to the wearer's spellcasting abilities, as well.

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit]
Appearing exclusively in smartphone versions of the game, the princess's robe has a Defence bonus of 67 and reduces damage taken by fire and ice breath by 40 points. It can be equipped by the female Hero, Alena, Maya, and Meena. It was a limited-time item that could only be obtained by redeeming a special gift code from the Dragon Quest Portal app that was exclusive for Japanese players and is no longer available.
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]
The princess's robe has a Defence bonus of +80, and reduces breath damage by 40. It can only be worn by female characters, such as the wives and Madchen. It is found in the Faerie Palace.
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
The princess's robe has a Defence bonus of +85, a Style bonus of +72, and reduces damage taken from all non-Zap spells by 30 points. It can be found in Mortamor's Dreadlair and can only be equipped by Milly and Ashlynn.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
The princess's robe has a Defence bonus of +85, a Style bonus of +72, and reduces damage from all non-Zap spells by 30 points. It can be purchased for 20,000 gold at the Divine Shrine and sold for 10,000 Gold Coins. It can only be equipped by Maribel and Aishe. If it is worn with the Golden tiara when being ranked for the Style Category of the Excellence Grading Organisation, it provides an extra +50 Style bonus.

The princess's robe has a Defence bonus of +94, and protects against all non-Zap spells by 30 points. It can be worn by Jessica and Red. The princess's robe can only be made using the Alchemy Pot and can be sold for 36,000 gold. In the Nintendo 3DS version, the princess's robe can be turned into Dodgy Dave in Pickham in exchange for an Abiding blazer.

The recipe book Classy Clobber for Kingly Kids contains the recipe for the princess's robe. It can be found in an underground chamber in the Zwaardsrust Region behind a red locked door that requires the Magic key.
Dragon Quest of the Stars[edit]
The princess's robe is a 5★ piece of armour. In this game, it is divided into a torso piece and a leg piece much like other pieces of armour.
Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
The Princess's robe is a S-rank piece of armour that first appeared during the Dragon Quest V event that could be received as a reward for defeating Bjørn in a Mega Boss Battle or purchasable from the Event Swap Shop. It has a DEF bonus of +10, a max MP bonus of +14, increases the wearer's paralysis resistance by 10%, and has three slots for Alchemy Effects. The robe can only be equipped by Attack and Magic units. The potential Alchemy Effects include further boosting the paralysis resistance, increasing resistance against Zam-type attacks and spells, and boosting the wearer's DEF, WIS, or AGL.
Dragon Quest Treasures[edit]
The Princess's robe is Treasure No. 033 in the Armour 2 category and can be found on Cinderback Ridge. Its base value is 12,000,000 gold.
