In the Dragon Quest III remakes, thug is a personality that improves strength growth, but reduces every other attribute growth.

At the start of the game, the Hero becomes a thug by receiving the final test of character in the desert. The hero must tell Dickie to leave the his brother behind without giving him the canteen and head back to town alone.

Other party members have a chance to be a daredevil when recruited as any class with the exception of mages and priests, depending on their stat bonuses.
