With the 2015 localization of the smart phone version of ''DQII'', the Mean spirit's name was changed to that of '''Sekerleton'''. This lead to confusion, as the name had already been applied to the [[Sekerleton (Dragon Quest IV|skeleton]] in the first Zenithian game. The error arose because the two monsters share the same name in Japanese, being '''しにがみ''', and the team that was assigned to localize ''DQII'' did not notice that the group which adapted ''DQIX'' foresaw this issue and averted it ahead of time.

Localization lapse

With the 2015 localization of the smart phone version of DQII, the Mean spirit's name was changed to that of Sekerleton. This lead to confusion, as the name had already been applied to the skeleton in the first Zenithian game. The error arose because the two monsters share the same name in Japanese, being しにがみ, and the team that was assigned to localize DQII did not notice that the group which adapted DQIX foresaw this issue and averted it ahead of time. However, the enemy is once again known as "Sekerleton" in Dragon Quest Builders 2, possibly due to the localizers referencing the English translation of Dragon Quest II for enemy names.
