Shimmering shield
The Shimmering Shield is a recurring shield in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest V. It is a highly protective shield that helps protect the wielder from both fire and ice damage.

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly BrideEdit
The Shimmering shield has a Defence bonus of +65, reduces damage from all fire and ice attacks (both spells and breath attacks) by 20 points, and can only be equipped by the Hero. It can only be found in a single chest in the postgame dungeon Estark's Labyrinth. It can only be equipped by Hero. It cannot be purchased or sold anywhere.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past (3DS)Edit
The Shimmering shield has a Defence bonus of +65, a Style bonus of +15, and reduces fire and ice breath damage by 20. It can be equipped by all characters as long as they are level 35. The shield is received as a first-time reward for completing the Here Be Dragons DLC Tablet. It is the second-most protective shield in the game right behind the Metal king shield.

Dragon Quest of the StarsEdit
Known as the Light shield in this game, it was added to the game as part of a series of equipment made to fight against Psaro the Manslayer. It included the Falcon knife earrings and the Shimmering dress. With the help of Alchemy, the shield could be evolved further into the Radiant shield.
Dragon Quest TactEdit
The Shimmering Shield is an S-rank shield that can be acquired as part of the limited True Dragon Quest V event by being part of a guild that has cleared Mega Boss Battle: Estark in a Guild Co-op Battle at least once. It has a Defense bonus of +15, raises the unit's Frizz/Crack type Res by 3% and has three slots for Alchemy Effects.
