The Slime (amalgoomated) is a special breed of the goobiquitous Slime introdoozed all the way back in Dragon Quest IV. Due to its similarities to the original ooze, this stronger slime often gets recognized only as a sub-species, though it's been receiving more recognition with time. But what everybody knows about this specific strand is its ability to undergo slimification. While these stronger slimes all share this ability, they need to slimify in specific numbers, so they're easy to recognize by their canny knack to call for reinforcements.
If you gather enough of this special species, you may behold a gob-smacking blob, for when eight of these gather, they will goonite into a mighty masher, the wobbly wonder King slime. In Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, three recruitable slimes named Smiles, Slime Shady, and Tori are able to undergo an otherwise unique act of Slimification, calling the team together to form Ultrus, the Ultra Slime, composed from a tremendous total of fifty-two slimes.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies introduced new style of slimification, in which three of these oozes fuse into a Slime stack. However, while sufficient metal slimes are known to slimify into the metal king slime, no one has ever witnessed a slimification resulting in a Metal medley or Gem jamboree.
Characteristics
The agoomulator, being a sub-species of slime, is identical to the species at large, and can only be distinguished by its abilities and behaviors -- they are usually either undergoing slimification now or calling reinforcements in order to undergo slimification later.

Due to the ambigooity of their nature, these special species of slimes are not always distinguished from the greater genus of goo. For the purposes of recognition, below are recorded all appearances of slimes who are capable of transforming into King Slimes, Slime Stacks, or whatever new styles of slimification that may be forthcoming.

Field Notes | Forget regular slimes—these blighters ooze strength from every pore. Eight of them goonite to form a king slime. For all their might, they like merging more than mauling, and seek like-minded slimes for consensual conglomeration. |
