The Gospel ring is a recurring accessory in the Dragon Quest series that first appeared in Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past.

It prevents random encounters while it is worn.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (remakes only)[edit]

The Gospel ring is an accessory that increases Luck by 50, and allows the party to avoid random encounters. It's available in the Casino in the Pioneer Town for 250,000 tokens.

However at this point in the game, the accessory item is actually useless and a waste of money in chapter 6 since the player at this point is near the end of the game and isn't worth it.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation (remakes only)[edit]

The Gospel ring is an accessory that increases Defence by +15, and Style by +30. It is obtainable at the Alltrades Abbey by speaking to the Abbot after getting to the 5th level of each Vocation.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

The Gospel ring has a Defence bonus of +50, a Style bonus of +30, and can be equipped by all characters. It is acquired after registering every enemy into the 'The Big Book of Beasts'. In the PSX version, if the player did not defeat Gracos V before the resurrection of The Almighty in Disc 2, it is impossible to fully complete all entries and receive the Gospel ring.

In the 3DS version, it is still possible to challenge Gracos V and receive his entry. Additionally, it isn't necessary to gain entries on of the special monsters that are exclusive to the DLC tablets to receive the ring.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

The Gospel ring is an accessory that increases Defence by +5, allows the party to avoid random encounters, and can be equipped by all characters. It is received from King Trode after defeating every enemy in the game.

  • In the 3DS version, it is not necessary to defeat all of the bosses in Memories Lane, but the player must encounter all of the enemies at the Altar of Wroth, one of the new dungeons in the game.
