Dragon Quest X[edit]
Small scales are used as an ingredient for alchemy and blacksmithing. They can be dropped by Nail blighters and Sizzards.
Dragon Quest XI[edit]
Small scales can be purchased from the roving emporium at the Manglegrove or from Nautica's item shop for 60 gold. They can also be picked up from sparkly spots in the Heliodorian Foothills, the Manglegrove, the Gallopolis Region, and the Grotta della Fonte. Small scales have a 1⁄16 chance of being dropped by Drake slimes. They are used in the following recipes for the Fun-Size Forge:
- Recipe: Scale armour = Small scale x2 + Copper ore x2
- Recipe: Scale shield = Small scale + Copper ore
