The Devil's tail is a recurring accessory in the Dragon Quest series. In most of its appearances, it is a cursed item.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line[edit]
Like the Death necklace, the Devil's tail will curse the person who tries to equip it, doubling the chance for an enemy cast of Snooze or Fizzle to work. It sells for 1,125 Gold Coins, so the player should sell as soon as they can. It is dropped from Hawk men and Grimlins.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
The Devil's tail increases Agility by 10, but makes the wearer more susceptible to magic attacks. It can be equipped by Yangus, Jessica, Angelo, Morrie, and Red. One can be found in the treasure vault at Argonia Castle after the events at the Royal Hunting Grounds, one in the Herb Grotto, and another at the World of Darkness. They can also be dropped by Tap devils, Caped caperers, and Demon thunderers. It can be purchased for 200 Gold Coins in the Dragovian Sanctuary and sold for 100.
The tail can be used in a variety of different alchemy recipes, typically to curse an item. It can also be combined with an urn of Saint's ashes in the Alchemy Pot to make a Leather whip.
