The '''merking''' is a recurring {{MFamilies}} in the {{DQSeries}}, first appearing in {{Dragon Quest III}}. It is a high-ranking monarch of the merpeople with purple scales.

These great, grumpy [[Aquatic family|fish-folk]] lurk in the forgotten and gloomy caves of the great sea, waiting to punish all people that dare to intrude their isolated deep domains. With a huge golden frills on their backs and bright blue scales, they can be a frightful sight to behold, especially as they're armed with unimaginably huge bladed staves for smacking and smashing uninvited guests. Capable of casting crushing ice magic with '''[[Crackle]]''', damaging a full [[party]] with frost, as well preventing all incoming spells being cast with the threatening '''[[Fizzle]]''' spell. They've even been known for spew forth a vile [[Venom Mist|venomous vapor]] that can {{Envenomate}} their enemies. Oddly enough, the merkings has a tendency to drop bikinis when they are defeated.

The merking is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest III. It is a high-ranking monarch of the merpeople with purple scales.

Characteristics[edit]

These great, grumpy fish-folk lurk in the forgotten and gloomy caves of the great sea, waiting to punish all people that dare to intrude their isolated deep domains. Merking appears as an A-rank monster of the Nature family during the first part of the limited Hijinks on the High Seas! Swimwear, Waves, and Pirates!? alongside Hellfire Prince Psaro on his banner. He can be faced as boss in various stages of the Merman's Den. The merking can participate in Captain Platypunk's Battle Road as a party member.
