Holy water, (also known as fairy water or repellent), is a repellent the Dragon Quest series. It is used to avoid random encounters, simulating the Holy Protection spell. In Dragon Quest IV, it can be used to give minor damage to monsters in battle. In Dragon Quest IX, its function was altered slightly to simulate the Vanish ability.

In both the original and remake, Fairy water is sold at a shop in both Brecconary and Mercado for 38 gold coins.
Dragon Quest II
Starting from this game, Fairy water was sold in item shops. The buying price is 40 gold coins.
Dragon Quest III
Fairy water is sold for item shops for 20 gold coins and sold for 15.
Dragon Quest IV
The buying and selling price is the same as the previous game. Tessie will sell this at Torneko's shop for 30 gold coins.
Captain N: The Game Master
Captain N and Princess Lana purchase this at the item shop as it's the only thing left. Unlike the Dragon Quest, the effect of the water is that it can be used against evil magic. It's ultimately used to remove the Death Necklace from Simon Belmont.
