The jockilles's English name comes from a combination of the word [[Wiktionary:jock|jock]], someone interested in athletics who is stereotyped as being muscular, but not very smart, and [[Wikipedia:Achilles|Achilles]] from Greek mythology, a hero of the Trojan War who is considered the greatest of all the Greek warriors. He is the central character in Homer's ''Iliad''. Jockilles and most of the other four-armed giants follow a similar naming convention of combining a word with a famous Greco-Roman warrior or hero.

The Jockilles is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest XI. It is a massive, four-armed giant that acts as a bodyguard for its fellow monsters.

Characteristics[edit]

Jockilles are four-armed cyclopes with pale yellow skin and very muscular bodies. They have no mouths and wear spiked bronze skullcaps on their heads. The giants wear little else on their body, their sparse clothing consisting of a chain harness with a demonic medallion on their chest they can use to block attacks, trunks covered by a pteruges skirt of leather strips and a studded leather belt, metal anklets, and cestus gloves worn on each of their hands. They utilise their spiked gloves in their Multifists attack to beat their opponents to a pulp. Despite their impressive physical prowess, the meatheads have trouble dealing with magic, being slightly vulnerable to every element. The giants also have a tendency to get distracted in battle by their own muscles, as well.
