The Words of Wisdom (formerly known as the Book of Satori and Zen Book) is an item in Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation which allows a character to become a Sage at Alltrades Abbey.

The treatise can only be used once, and is found at the Tower of Transcendence. The remakes add another one in Rimuldar. In the NES version of the game Belisha beakons have a very rare chance of dropping this item.

The HD-2D Remake adds another in the small clearing in the mountains southeast of Khoryv, hidden in a barrel.

Etymology

Satori is a Buddhist term for Awakening, Understanding and (total) Comprehension.

Trivia

In the official Famicom guide book, the English title of this item is the Book of Understanding.
