Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Etymology

Their name in Japanese is probably a reference to Nereus of Greek mythology who gave birth to the Nereids. Their English name is probably a reference to "The Old Man of the Sea" from the Illiad, who is also a father to the Nereids, and can therefore be speculated to be Nereus - this is unclear however as he is not mentioned by name.
