The Double bubble, also known as the Bonus ball, is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series which first appeared in Dragon Quest X. It is a wondrous item that doubles the amount of experience and gold earned after battles.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

In the Nintendo 3DS version, Double bubbles will last for 10 battles when used. There are only two available in the entire game: the first can be earned by completing the Imp card through the Cameron's Codex sidequest, while the other can be obtained from Memories Lane. It was also possible to randomly receive a double bubble as a downloadable bonus item in 2017, but after 2018, all DLC items for the 3DS version became unavailable.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

The Double bubble makes its first appearance in the series and lasts for 30 minutes when used. It is possible to recharge the double bubble with the use of an energy charge. Energy charges are accrued whenever the player has not logged in for 22 hours, up to a total of 440 hours. This allows players to catch up if they haven't played in a while. There are also different types of double bubbles with varying effects and length of effects, as well.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit]

The Bonus ball was available as a preorder bonus item. It lasts for 10 battles and it cannot be sold or discarded.

  • In the smartphone version of the game, it is possible to receive a Bonus ball as a daily gift.

Dragon Quest Treasures[edit]

The Bonus ball is Treasure No. 304 in the Items category and can be found on Cinderback Ridge. Its base value is 300,000 gold.
