The Mosstodon is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest XI. It is a golem whose body has been overrun by moss.
Characteristics[edit]
Mosstodons are an arboreal variety of golems, hulking man-shaped monsters made of clay bricks and extensive amounts of moss growing on their heads and fists. They have become overgrown with moss due to being abandoned in forests. The golems have a maw-like opening on their faces that display a pair of pink eyes that glow from the darkness. Mosstodons are able to protect their weaker allies with their bulk, unleash earthshaking tremors to harm multiple opponents, and emit a soporific fragrant gas from their maws. They disguise themselves as harmless piles of rock in forests in order to ambush unsuspecting adventurers.
