The Killer torch, also known as the Grim candle, is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest X.
It is a powerful variant of the Wax murderer made of red wax that wields a sickle in its hand.
Characteristics[edit]
Killer torches are anthropomorphic walking candles made of blood red wax, their wicks lit with an ghastly blue flame. They have traded out the knives wielded by their waxy cousins, instead choosing to wield a wicked sharp scythe in their right hands. Their eerie fires give them the ability to cast both fire and darkness magic on their enemies and they are known for taking adventurers by surprise by using Channel Anger after sustaining enough damage.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest X[edit]
Killer torches make their debut in Version 1.0 of the game, being encountered in the Calsadra Volcano. They can cast both Frizzle and Zammle and will use Channel Anger on themselves after taking enough damage.
Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
Killer torch appears as an A-rank monster of the Inorganic family appearing alongside the Extreme killing machine on its banner.
