The Talontear Tunnel is a cave in Alefgard in Dragon Quest III
It is the precursor to Erdrick's Cave in the first game, and is the location of the Hero's Shield.
Appearances
Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation
It is said that the cave is the point where Zoma entered Alefgard. Like the Pyramid's basement floors, magic is sealed here too. Upon the demon lord's defeat, The Hero and his companions fall into an opening pit from Zoma's Citadel and are flung to the third floor of the cave. The cave begins to collapse as they escape, and the third floor is sealed off once they exit.

Monsters
Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake
The cave is now slightly easier to handle as skills are still usable despite magic being voided out, and the A.I. is smart enough to put items such as the stormlord's sword to good use.
There is also a friendly goodybag on the basement floor in the northeast corner.
