The Animated armour is a recurrent monster in the Dragon Quest series and it was introduced in Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation.
Characteristics
Animated armours are, like their name indicates, moving suits of armor . Their body consists in a set of metallic black cuirass, helmet, boots and guantlets, all of them black with golden and purple details on them. In the DS remake the color of the armor was changed to blue, and the purple details are nowhere to be found; this was made to differentiate this monster from the Prison guards, whose sprite in the original was the same with this monster. Animated armours are seen golden wielding lances, with blunted tips and a blue handgrip (purple in the remake), and a blue shield (purple in the remake), which are decorated with a blue eye (green in the remake) and golden details.
In battle they and stab and pierce with their golden lance, sometimes striking faster than a hurricane, giving them an edge in battle.
