Fire wood is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a red piece of lumber that emits heat like a flame that is used as a crafting material.

Fire wood is used as a material for crafting weapons and furniture or in Alchemy to increase Magical Might on pieces of torso armour. It can be picked up from sparkly spots or dropped by certain monsters, such as Dancing flames, Firebirds, Hybirds, and Flamethrowers.

Fire wood can be picked up from sparkly spots at Mount Huji or dropped by Flamethrowers, Lava lamplings, and Bongo bangos. It can be sold for 172 gold.
Fire wood is used in the following recipes for the Fun-Size Forge:
- Recipe: Red dragon rod = Fire wood x2 + Dragon hide x2 + Royal ruby + Lava lump x2
- Recipe: Wyrmwand = Fire wood x2 + Royal ruby x2 + Dragon horn x2 + Sparkly sap x2
- Recipe: Crimson robe = Lava lump x3 + Fire wood x3 + Magic water x2 + Royal ruby
