Underground Lake

(Redirected from Cave West of Noaniels)

The Underground Lake is an optional dungeon in Dragon Quest III. It is located west of Norvik and south of the Super Secret Faerie Village.

It contains the dreamstone in a treasure chest on its lowest floor. It also contains a Healing Spring on its 2nd basement floor, the only dungeon to possess one in the NES version of the game.

AppearancesEdit

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of SalvationEdit

The cave is the largest dungeon in the game thus far, and like real life caverns is the result of continuous water runoff, which has pooled in the basement floor and given the dungeon its namesake. A priest wander the cavern and explains that the site was chosen as a trial by the Goddess, which is why the Healing Spring is present in such a dangerous place.

The unnamed man and the daughter of the Queen of Faeries fled to the final floor of the dungeon and threw themselves into the lake, with the faerie stating in a suicide note that if their love would result in strife between their peoples then they would be together in the after life. The dreamstone is in the same chest as the note.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D RemakeEdit

The third floor of the cavern is illuminated with the same bioluminescent fungi and plants found in the Faerie Village and the dreamstone is set on a pedestal surrounded by eight faerie statues, implying that it is a sacred place for the fair folk.
