The Darkest despair is a boss monster found in Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age. It is a manifestation of one of the Luminary's deepest fears, being the embodiment of his fear of failing to save Erdrea. It is fought as part of the challenges set forth in Drustan's labyrinth, alongside the Abject terror.
