Etymology[edit]

Overweening Pride's Japanese name Mumyō no majin (無明の魔神) is derived from the Buddhist concept of mumyō, which is an ignorance of nirvana and of the fundamental state of existence. It is originally known in Sanskrit as Avidyā.
