Gigathrow

From Dragon Quest Wiki

Gigathrow is a recurring ability in the franchise designed for Boomerangs. Playing against the weapon family's type, it strikes a single foe like a bolt of lighting for colossal damage.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]

The Hero can use Gigathrow as a boomerang technique after investing 100 skill points into the associated skill. Damage is Lightning based and is calculated as ([LVL x 2 + 125] +/- 10%) for a maximum range of 233~284, and will cost 15 MP.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]

Gigathrow can be used by any character that has the "Boomerang Bible" (quest #86) item in their inventory. Damage is calculated as ([LVL x 2.5 + 125] +/- 15%) for an upper limit of 274~372. The technique uses 16 MP, and carries the Lightning/Explosion element shared with the Bang spells in this game.

Dragon Quest X[edit]

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]

Gigathrow is reserved for monsters such as the Loss leaders and Red giants. It deals immense Lightning damage and has a chance to paralyze any character hit by it.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key[edit]

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End[edit]

Maribel Mayde can use Gigathrow for 14 MP after learning reaching rank 11 in her boomerang proficiency. She slings out a slow moving, Lighting-element rang that can be paused in mid-flight to deal continuous damage to an enemy at the risk of putting the girl open to attack.
