Rake 'n' Break is a recurring claw skill in the Dragon Quest series that was introduced in Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. It strikes an enemy with a burst of light projected from ferocious golden claws, stripping them of any beneficial effects.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
In the Nintendo 3DS version, Rake 'n' Break can be learned by Morrie by investing 66 skill points into his Claw skill and costs 3 MP to use. It deals the same amount of damage as a normal attack, but removes all beneficial status effects from the target, including Tension.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]
Rake 'n' Break is learned with 88 skill points allocated into the Claw skill. It costs 6 MP to use, deals 140% damage to a single enemy, and removes all buffs from them. The buff removal effect will occur even if the skill is evaded or blocked with a shield.
Dragon Quest X[edit]
Rake 'n' Break can be learned by Martial Artists, Thieves, Monster Masters, and Rangers by allocating 100 points into the Claw skill. It costs 12 MP to use, deals 260% damage to a single enemy, and removes all buffs from them.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
Rake 'n' Break can be learned by Rab through the Claws panel in his character builder for 16 skill points after it has been expanded in the second act. It costs 12 MP to use, deals 260% damage to a single enemy, and removes all buffs from them. On the enemy side, it can be used by both Gyldygga and All-Consuming Greed.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Super Light[edit]
Rake 'n' Break can be learned by Gyldygga at level 11 and costs 54 MP to use. It deals critical physical damage to a single enemy and removes all beneficial status effects from them.
