Frenzy

From Dragon Quest Wiki
Not to be confused with the furious state of mind

Frenzy is an ability in the Dragon Quest series.

The attacker completely loses it and starts on a random (possibly allied) target for double damage.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]

Frenzy is used by monster companions such as the hoodlum. Note: if a target is immune to Whack, then the skill will miss every time. Additionally, the user will never target themselves even if they are the only member of the party currently active. With proper defensive measures set up, a monster using Frenzy can obliterate even the most powerful encounters.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]

Frenzy deals double damage, but unfortunately the target is any random friend or foe. It is obtained by advancing to rank 6 of the Warrior vocation. It has lost the death attribute from V and can now strike Metal slimes.

It is used by Scytheborgs.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

Frenzy is learned via reaching rank 5 of the Gladiator in the PSX original and has the same metal-striking properties as in VI, but was removed outright in the 3DS remake.

It is used by the enemies Automaton, Berserker, Setesh the Punisher, and Silver scrapper

Dragon Quest Monsters[edit]

Called Massacre in this game, it requires the monster to reach level 12 with 84 HP, 72 Attack and 72 Agility. It is naturally learned by the DracoLord (Dragon form), EvilPot, GulpBeast, MadDragon, MadKnight, MetalDrak and Ogre.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit]

The requirements to learn Massacre are unchanged. It is naturally learned by the BossTroll, GigaDraco, Gorago and WalrusMan.
