Flame Slash is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series.
It imbues a melee strike with the power of flames, altering the damage dealt by the target's tolerance of the element.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]
Flame Slash deals damage based on the target's vulnerability to Sizz, with 130%, 115%, 75%, and 30% being the possible modifiers. It is granted at the first rank of the Armamentalist vocation.
It is used by the enemies bad karmours, Bronson, skullriders, finned fatales, zombie gladiators, Zozagel, and Terry.
Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]
Flame Slash is learned in the same manner as in the previous game, and possesses the same parameters. It can also be learned naturally by Kiefer at level 5 and is already known by Aishe when she joins the party.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, it can also be learned at rank 2 as a Hero.
It is used by the enemies Bronson, charmours, alarmours, and Cardinal Sin.
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King[edit]
Flame Slash is a sword technique that both Eight and Angelo can learn. It requires 15 skill points by Eight, and 9 skill points by Angelo. Damage modifiers have not changed.
It is also used by the enemies Skullrider and Zombie gladiator. Jockey is the only Infamous Monster with access to it.
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]
Although not directly available to players, Flame Slash is used by the desert dwelling axolhotls. Use of the Armamentalist's Fire Fource skill can mimic the technique.
Dragon Quest X[edit]
Flame Slash can be learned by Warriors, Gladiators, Armamentalists, Paladins, Fortune Tellers, Gadabouts, and Demon Swordsman by allocating 3 skill points into the One-Handed Swords skill. It costs 2 MP to use and deals 20% more damage (plus 10 raw damage).
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
Flame Slash increases damage by 20% (plus 5 raw damage), and is learned by the Luminary, Erik, Sylvando, and Hendrik for three skill points in the swords branch of their character builder. The skill once again costs 2 MP to use.
Dragon Quest Monsters[edit]
Called FireSlash in this game, it requires the monster to reach level 11 with 77 HP, 34 MP, 66 Attack and 42 Intelligence. It is naturally learned by the Centasaur, Demonite, Dragon, EvilArmor, Grendal, Orochi and SkulRider. It can also be learned by monsters with Blazemore and ChargeUp.
Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit]
FireSlash now requires 76 Intelligence to learn. It is no longer naturally learned by the Demonite.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince[edit]
Flame Slash costs 2 MP and deals 10% more damage than a normal attack. It is learned through the Air Fryer, Blade Maven, Firebrand, Fire Chief, Freezer Burner, Frizz Afficionado, Pyrotechnician, Smart Blazer, and Spicy Slasher talents.

Flame Slash can be learned by Luceus for 5 skill points and costs 7 MP to use. When used, Luceus slams his sword into the ground and creates a large burst of flames in front of him.
- Flame Slash can be upgraded with the skill Flame Slash Strengthener, which costs 20 skill points to learn. By holding the button when Flame Slash is being performed, it will attack multiple times.
Dragon Quest Treasures[edit]
Flame Slash deals Fire-element slashing damage to one foe for 4 MP, and is learned by drackolytes and restless armours.
Dragon Quest Tact[edit]
Flame Slash is known naturally by arrghgoyles, hellions, and killing machine light at level 1, and can be learned by wax murderers at level 16. It costs 3 MP to use and inflicts 120% potency Frizz-type physical damage to a single enemy. It can also be taught to any unit by using an ability scroll.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
Flame Slash is available to the Hero via his Command Selection ability. It costs 12 MP to perform, but deals high damage and boasts considerable knockback as well. The blade will deal 22% with a wide swing arc and the flames will inflict 17%, but the latter will not send the target flying as far as the former.
