The Hellion is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest IV.
It is a ferocious lion monster with four arms and four legs. Its name a pun based on the word "hellion", which means a rowdy or unruly person, and "hell lion".
Characteristics[edit]
Hellions, naturally, are fearsome lions straight from the depths of hell with yellow fur and a blue mane. While the lower half of its body is identical to that of a real lion, its upper body is closer to a humanoid's, being capable of using its many arms in vicious swiping attacks. They are often fast enough to act twice per turn and build up their strength to deliver devastating attacks. The felines have had a variety of tricks up their sleeves depending on the game, such as being able to heal themselves with Medicinal herbs, breathing out fire or ice, and intimidating enemies with their ferocious roars.
Appearances[edit]
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen[edit]
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride[edit]
Dragon Quest X[edit]
Hellions appeared from the beginning of the game. They can increase their Tension by psyching up, and have a chance of performing an action twice in a row. Hellions gone Vicious are encountered in the Netherworld from 5.3 onwards.
