First appearance | Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line |
Old localization | Giant (II NES) |
The Gigantes is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series that was introduced in Dragon Quest II.
They are club-wielding cyclopses with sky-blue skin.
Characteristics[edit]
Defined by strength, the Gigantes is a behemoth whose simplistic garb does a poor job of concealing its bulging muscle mass. Though some members of the species can prove to be gentle giants, it is usually encountered in the wild as a dumb brute ready and willing to cave in the skulls of plucky adventurers. In more recent titles, it seems to have smartened up a little and learned a few skills.
Originally depicted as having green skin and a bright blue sash, it started to shift to its modern coloration in the release of Dragon Quest V before its iconic look was established in VIII.
