In the original Japanese, the Hotto Steppe's Japanese name, Homusubi Sanchi (ホムスビ山地) is a reference to the Japanese fire god Kagutsuchi, who is also known by the name Homusubi. He is a patron deity of blacksmiths and ceramic workers.
