Caster Sugar is a recurring ability in the Dragon Quest series. It increases the user's magical might & magical mending by one level. Its name is a pun based on "caster sugar", a type of very fine sugar that is used to make various sweets and mixed drinks.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies[edit]
This ability is learned with 68 skill points allocated into the Sage's Enlightenment skill. Magical potential improves by 50% when used, and requires 8 MP to use.
Dragon Quest X[edit]
Caster Sugar can be learned once again by Sages by allocating 55 points into the Enlightenment skill. It costs 12 MP to use, increases the user's magical might and magical mending by one stage for 2 minutes. It can be stacked and the duration will be refreshed if it is used again.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
Caster Sugar can be learned by Rab through the Enlightenment panel in his character builder for 12 skill points, requiring at least four of the surrounding panels to be unlocked first. It will boost his Magical might and Magical mending by 25% for 4-6 turns and costs 16 MP to use. It can be stacked, boosting his magical power to 50%. The Cane of compassion also has a 50% chance to impart the effects of Caster Sugar to the wielder at the beginning of battle.
