The leather cape is a recurring piece of clothing in the Dragon Quest series. It is typically a mid-level piece of clothing designed for spellcasters.
It's thought by some fans due to their similar physical appearances in artwork that this item was meant to be a replacement for the Fur Coat from Dragon Quest IV and the Fur cape from DQV - VII, with some even believing that these items all derive from the Mink Mantle from Dragon Quest II.
The leather cape has a defence bonus of +22. It can be worn by Angelo and Morrie. It can be purchased from Pickham and the church west of Trodain for 1,100 gold and sold for 550. One can be found in Argonia. The leather cape is also dropped by various enemies, including phantom fencers, hoods, dullahans, dark sea-divas, and dark ministers.
