Tatron is a invokeable entity that appears in the sixth and seventh games via the Summon skill. Like all summoned beings, he fights on the side of the player as an AI-only ally who cannot be controlled.

Appearance and Personality[edit]

Tatron's design varies considerably, with two official designs being used concurrently for merchandise during 1995 when VI debuted and a third being added for the 3DS remake of VII in 2013. The first design is that of a young Elf man with blue eyes wearing Middle Eastern attire and carrying a short staff set with a turquoise gem, the second being that of a blond European human with blue eyes wearing a similar garb but with a wavy green headband of unknown material. The most recent design is of a long-haired, elderly Middle Eastern man with a physique similar to that of a Poppet and carrying an abacus weapon.

Series creator Yuji Horii describes Tatron's history in a side-column in the V-Jump guidebook for VI, stating that he was a saintly priest who dedicated his life to wandering the world to aid the less fortunate, ascending to demigod status due to his good deeds.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation[edit]

Tatron is the first entity available for summoning in the game, having no minimum level requirement. His HP is 200, MP is 50, attack is 180, defence is 150, and his agility is 80; the abilities he brings to battle are Lightning, Midheal, Selflessness, and Sweet Breath, allowing him to provide mid-level support as a jack of all trades. He is programmed to belong to the Floating "family", but this is meaningless as no enemy has any skills to inflict extra damage to the type.

Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past[edit]

Tatron once again appears as the default summon and is virtually identical to his prior appearance in battle capability, the only differences being that his HP is now 300 and that he uses the Staff of sentencing as an item to cast Woosh.

Dragon Quest Monsters & Dragon Quest Monsters 2[edit]

Tatron appears under the name of Tatsu in the Eidos localization, and can be summoned directly via the TatsuCall spell. He replaces the party of monsters until the battle is won or he is defeated, working as a stalling technique against stronger bosses or other player teams in multiplayer.
