The slapstick, also known simply as the fan, is a weapon in Dragon Quest III. It is a fan made of steel which is used in comedy routines to whack another person over the head.
Details
The slapstick has an attack bonus of +31 and can be equipped by Merchants and Gadabouts. It can be purchased in Mur for 1,300 gold and sold for 975 gold. It only appears in remake versions of the game.
Etymology
In the Japanese versions of the game, the slapstick is known as the steel harisen. A harisen is a giant paper fan used by the straight man (tsukkomi) to smack the funny man (boke) in response to their jokes or idiocy. It often appears in Japanese video games or animated series.
