Manky mud is a recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. It is a lump of toxic sludge collected from a poisonous swamp or monster that is used as a crafting ingredient.

Appearances

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies

Manky mud can be collected from Doomingale Forest and Mt. Ulzuun, has a 15% chance of being found in Rank 4 blue treasure chests, or dropped by Walking corpses, Stenchurions, Toxic zombies, Ghouls, Apeckalypses, and Mortoads. One clod of manky mud is required to complete Quest #127: A Right Royal Nightmare, along with a Malicite, and a vial of Sage's elixir. Manky mud can be sold for 15 gold or can be used in the following alchemy recipes:

Dragon Quest X

Manky mud is used as an ingredient in weaponsmithing for crafting poisonous weapons or in alchemy to add a Sap effect to weapons. It can be purchased from a material store for 240 gold, picked up from sparkly spots, or dropped by various monsters, including Toxic zombies.

Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below

Manky mud can be dropped by Bubble slimes and Toxic zombies or exchange for three Mini medals from King Flaminio on the Stonecloud. It can be sold for 5 gold or used to create Stimulating specs or the quick recipe for the Ring of immunity in the Alchemy Pot. Three clods of manky mud are required to complete Quest #039: A Poisonous Petition.

Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End

Manky mud is used as an ingredient to improve various accessories or sold for 5 gold. Once again, it can be dropped by Bubble slimes and Toxic zombies.
