Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the ChosenEdit
Lakanaba is Torneko Taloon's hometown, and the starting point of Chapter 3. Torneko lives here with his wife Tessie and son Tipper, working part-time at the local weapons shop until he has earned enough capital to leave and open his own business. Far to the north of Endor, it is located across a narrow channel to the east of Vrenor. Torneko's journey into the wider world begins with an old man telling him of a impervious safe that would prevent monsters from ever taking gold from a traveler being locked away in cave to the north of Lakanaba.
Other notable residents of the town are old man Finn, his son Finnegan, and their dog Fido. The senior is a religious man who prays the the church daily, and will pay Torneko a small sum for helping him get to the house of the Goddess. Finnegan is a former thief who wants to go straight, but was imprisoned in the Ballymoral dungeon. The man is very hardheaded, literally and figuratively, and can endure crashing through the castle ceiling when Torneko busts him out with a Chimaera wing. Finnegan is immensely grateful for this second chance at life, and will happily loan out Fido to the merchant for free when the hound's nose is needed to sniff out and put an end to some wily fox magic.
