Characteristics[edit]

The wayfarer's clothes consists of a sturdy, long blue sleeveless tunic made out of hemp, worn with a leather belt around the waist, and a blue cape. They can typically be purchased in the first town a player visits in a game and offer a decent amount of protection for novice adventurers, especially spellcasters who cannot wear heavier armour. Wayfarer's clothes are one of the few items in the series whose price has stayed consistent in every game they have appeared.

Appearances[edit]

Dragon Quest III[edit]

The wayfarer's clothes have a defence bonus of +8 and can be worn by every class except Martial Artists. They can be purchased for 70 gold in Aliahan and sold for 52 gold. The hero starts the game with some equipped and the King of Aliahan gives the Hero one set at the start of his journey. Another set can be found in the Promontory Passage. Wayfarer's clothes can also be dropped by crabids, Vladiators, and shades.

Trivia[edit]

  • Several characters' artwork depicts them wearing a variation of wayfarer's clothes:
    • Both the male and female Hero in Dragon Quest III wear them. Sometimes their capes are colored purple instead of blue.
    • Alena is garbed in a yellow version with a blue cape.
    • Both Parry and Madchen have a child-sized version; the former with a tattered blue outfit, the latter with a well-tended lilac outfit.
