Egg On is a recurring skill in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest IX.

When used, it cheers on a fellow party member and gives them a boost to their Tension or supports them in some other way.

Localization historyEdit

The Japanese skill Ōen has been translated twice into English, with the first being Egg On for mainline titles and Rabble Rouser for spin-offs. This article will cover the instances in which the former localization is used and the games featuring the Ōen skill that remain untranslated.

AppearancesEdit

Dragon Quest II HD-2D RemakeEdit

Egg On is learned by the Prince of Midenhall at Level 32. It costs 3 MP and doubles and ally's attack for one turn.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D RemakeEdit

Egg On is learned by Gadabouts at level 32 if their wisdom exceeds 61 points. The skill costs 3 MP and doubles an ally's attack stat for one turn, stacking with Oomph or the war drum but not with Muster Strength.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry SkiesEdit

Egg On increases the Tension of a target party member by one level. After the Hero unlocks the Quester's Rest in Stornway, and calls up an NPC friend to join the party, Patty teaches Egg On to the Hero as way of thanks for helping her out in the Hexagon earlier.

Some enemies such as sluggers can also use this to bolster their allies.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3DEdit

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious KeyEdit

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3Edit

Starting with this game, Egg On now has the chance to activate at the start of each turn, rather than just at the beginning of the battle.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Super LightEdit

Dragon Quest Monster Battle Road VictoryEdit

Egg On appears as a DLC SP card skill for Sancho. When used, he will greatly increase the evasion rate of himself and all party members.
