The Orochi is a many headed monster found in Enix's Dragon Quest III. The dreadful beast and the events surrounding Jipang and the arrival of Erdrick are based on the Japanese legend of the Yamata no Orochi.

Characteristics

The design of Orochi is the one of an enormous reptilian being which is covered in green scales and has five heads instead of one. At the top of each head there are grey purplish colored crests that go from the front of the head to the base of the neck. In each limb there are four fingers that end up in white, sharp claws. It has red eyes.

Story

In Dragon Quest III, the Orochi demands the sacrifice of young girls from the village of Jipang. When Erdrick defeated the Orochi in the Cave Northeast of Jipang, it dropped the Orochi sword, before retreating through a portal to Pimiko's Palace in Jipang. When it became clear that the Orochi was pretending to be Pimiko, Erdrick again fought the Orochi, slaying it and freeing the people of Jipang.
