"I see your mouth is as vulgar as your face! Yes, I'M the King! And who exactly do you think YOU are!?"
Trode is a major character and the eponymous "Cursed King" from Square Enix's Dragon Quest VIII.
He is the king of Trodain, and Medea's father. Both he and his daughter were cursed by Dhoulmagus after he stole the Sceptre from Castle Trodain's sealed chamber. Although he is not a combatant, the player can control him at certain parts of the game.

Trode is a good monarch, consumed with the well-being of his kingdom and especially of his daughter, but shows little concern for anything else. After being cursed with a hideous, toad-like from, Trode travels via a wagon hitched to his now turned horse daughter (a fact that he often is upset by).
