The Brollygagger is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first appearing in Dragon Quest XI. It is an umbrella monster that appears during rainstorms.
Characteristics
Brollygaggers are bizarre monsters in the form of purple umbrellas with a roguish face and a three-pronged metal claw at the end of their long, flexible handles. They have squinting, crescent-shaped yellow eyes with small pupils and a jagged toothless grin; when the brollygagger rotates its body, its face stays in the same place. They are able to keep themselves aloft by spinning themselves and act quickly in battle due to their high agility. Like their weaker beach umbrella cousins, brollygaggers are able to confuse their enemies with magic, then slice them apart with blades of sharp wind. They can only be encountered during periods of heavy rain and are sought after due to the water repellent properties of their canopies. On rare occasions, they are also able to drop umbrella-shaped wands for spellcasters.
Appearances

Dragon Quest Monsters 2: Iru and Luca's Marvelous Mysterious Key
Brollygagger appears as a B-rank monster of the Material family exclusive to the SP version of the game.
Etymology
The brollygagger's English name is a combination of the word "brolly", which is a British slang term for an umbrella, and "lollygagger", a term for a lazy person or slacker.
