Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age[edit]
The katana is given to the player in Mt. Huji by Ryu after being cured of his Tatsunaga curse. In order to do so, the player must retrieve some Lumen essence from the The Eerie Valley section of the Disciple's Trial, which is itself part of Drustan’s Labyrinth. Players will need to purify Ryu in order to receive the Crucible key from his mother, Miko, which is necessary to create the Sword of Light. As such, players can get two excellent swords in quick succession.
Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy's End[edit]
Exclusive to the Nintendo Switch version of the game, the katana is one of Ragnar McRyan's exclusive weapons. The attack boost is +122, and it has a low chance to sap any monster it slices.

Etymology[edit]
- The katana's English name comes from the history of Japanese blacksmiths needing to strike their work several times while it is molten in order to drive out any impurities in the metal being used to create a sword. The more times the metal was struck, the fewer impurities remained and thus it maintained a higher quality.
