The Fright bulb is a recurring monster in the Dragon Quest series, first introduced in Dragon Quest XI. They are botanical slimes that resemble freshly sprouted shoots, lacking the ripe red coloration and flower of the Bite bulbs. Their namesake is a reference to the mythical mandrake plant, which would let loose an ear-splitting scream when uprooted.
Characteristics
Fright bulbs are brown slimes with a tuft of leaves sprouting from the top of its head. Its head is perched on top of a light green bulb with a large pair of leaves that they flap in order to hover in midair and smack enemies for self-defense. In battle, they can shout suddenly in order to startle unsuspecting adventurers much like their mythological namesakes.
